Surrey Order Picker License - Order preparation operation or also called order picking as it is more commonly known is a process utilized in warehouse operations and consists of staff called order pickers. The order picker's task is to take and collect articles in certain quantities so as to complete the client's orders before shipment. Order picking is an easy warehousing method. The effectiveness in which this task is done could be directly connected to the productivity of a supply chain. Thus, order picking is among the most controlled logistic processes. Order picking falls within the category of the warehouse management system.
There are specific kinds of order picking which consist of: wave picking method, pick to box method, picker to part method or piece picking, zone picking method and sorting systems method.
The pick to box method involves the order picker only filling the boxes with stuff which are from their particular station. The box then moves on to other stations to until the order is finish. In this particular method, there is no movement of the order picker personnel. In the wave picking method, the order pickers move about so as to gather the necessary products for some orders. The piece picking or picker to part method is similar where the order pickers or picker move to collect the items required but for one order only.
There is no movement by the order picker in the sorting systems method. Rather, products are brought to the orderpicker by an automatic system such as an automatic storage system or a conveyor system. In the zone picking method, each order picker is assigned to one specific zone. They are responsible for only realizing order picking within this particular zone.
